This is unapologetically a party trick: torch, wood chips, smoke trapped over a glass for a minute. It does genuinely change the drink — oak and cherry add a real edge to bourbon — but the reason to own it is that people gather round when it comes out. Six wood varieties means a reason to do it again. The torch takes butane that is not included, which is the near-universal complaint. Buy it for someone who likes hosting. Skip it for someone who drinks whisky seriously; they will think it is vandalism.
