Should I buy golf clubs as a gift?
Only if he has been fitted and told you the spec. Otherwise buy the fitting itself, a launch monitor, a bag or a putter — a putter is the one club where personal preference is visible immediately and returns are simple.
Is a home launch monitor worth it?
For anyone who practises regularly, yes — instant feedback on carry, spin and face angle does more in a winter than a season of range balls. The Foresight GCQuad is the tour-level option; club fitters use the same unit.
What loft driver should he play?
10.5 degrees suits most amateur swing speeds and gives more forgiveness than a lower loft. Only drop to 9 or 9.5 if he swings fast and has been fitted.
