About Build a Boyfriend

Build a Boyfriend is a shoppable men's style and gift guide. It began as a Pinterest account — 40 boards covering men's style, gifts, grooming, home, travel, date nights and couples costumes — and this site is the searchable version of it.

Today it holds 58 written collections and 64 picks. Every collection is a guide with a buying order, not a grid: what to buy first, what to skip, and what the thing is actually for.

How we pick

Three tests, in order. Will he use it weekly? Will it still look right in five years? Is it the best version of its category at that price? A product has to pass at least two.

We do not list a product because it pays more. We do not pad a collection to hit a round number — a few pages here have four picks because four is how many we found worth recommending. And we do not publish a photograph we have not looked at: every hero image on this site was reviewed by eye before the product went live.

How we make money

Affiliate commission. Every product links to Amazon, and as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. The price you pay is identical either way — Amazon pays the commission out of its own margin. Full disclosure here.

What we do not do

We do not quote prices on this site. Retail prices move constantly and a stale number is worse than no number, so we publish price bands and let the live listing tell you what it costs today.

We also will not fake a review. We have not personally tested every item on this site, and we say so rather than pretending otherwise. What we do is research the category, read what owners say, look hard at the photographs, and tell you honestly why a pick is on the list.
