Is a projector better than a TV for a home theater?
For scale, yes — nothing at a projector's price gets you a hundred inches. Modern triple-laser models like the Hisense XR10 are bright enough for a room with ambient light, which used to be the deal-breaker.
Do I need a subwoofer?
Yes. Almost all of the physical sensation in a film soundtrack lives below where a soundbar can reach. Adding a sub is the single biggest audible upgrade in home cinema, more than upgrading the bar itself.
How much should a home theater cost?
Picture and sound each deserve roughly a third of the budget, with the last third split between seating and light control. Blackout blinds are the cheapest meaningful upgrade almost nobody buys.
