Whiskey Barrel Coasters, Set of Six

These are cut from used whiskey barrels, which means the grain is char-darkened on one face and no two match — and yes, a new one genuinely carries the smell. That detail is the entire reason to buy these rather than cork. They are thick, so they will not warp. They are also absorbent wood, so a wet glass leaves a ring that fades rather than wipes.
