Why are Rolex watches so hard to buy new?
Production is deliberately limited against demand, and authorised dealers allocate steel sports models to established customers. Waiting lists on a steel Daytona or a Submariner run for years, which is why the pre-owned market prices above retail.
Which Rolex should I buy first?
A Datejust in 36mm or a Submariner in 40mm. Both are wearable with everything, both hold value, and both are references that people recognise without the watch shouting. Save the Daytona for the second purchase.
What is the difference between a 'Batman' and a 'Pepsi'?
Bezel colours on the GMT-Master II. Batman is blue and black, Pepsi is blue and red, Coke is red and black. The nicknames are collector shorthand and Rolex has never used them officially.
Do pre-owned Rolex watches come with papers?
Some do and some do not, and it affects price meaningfully — a full set with box and papers typically commands a premium over a watch-only sale. Check the individual listing; the retailer states what is included.
