Phone torches are fine until you need both hands or any actual throw, and then they are useless. The MicroStream is the size of a marker pen, clips inside a pocket, and puts out 250 lumens — genuinely useful rather than novelty. Streamlight make duty gear for people whose lights have to work, and it shows in the switch and the clip. USB rechargeable, so no batteries to keep. Runtime at full brightness is about an hour, which is the honest limitation. The gift people are faintly dismissive of and then carry every day.
