Oxfords Cashmere 100% Lambswool Tartan Scarf

Most scarves at this price are acrylic that pills within a season. This is genuine lambswool, woven rather than printed, so the tartan runs through the cloth instead of sitting on top of it. It is warm, it drapes properly, and it survives being stuffed in a coat pocket. Lambswool is not cashmere despite the brand name, and it is slightly scratchier against a bare neck.
