Laptop webcams are bad because the lid is too thin for decent optics, and no software fixes that. The C920x is the default upgrade for good reason: genuinely sharp 1080p, a sensor that copes with a window behind you, and it works on anything without drivers. Seventy dollars is more than the no-name 4K cameras and the picture is better than all of them, because resolution is not the thing that matters. There is no privacy shutter built in. Buy it for anyone whose job happens on calls.
