A journaling Bible is a genuinely different object: two-inch ruled margins, heavier paper that takes ink without ghosting through. For someone who annotates, this is transformative, and after a few years the notes are worth more than the book. The trade is size and the study notes being lighter than in a dedicated study edition. Ink still shows faintly on the reverse with a wet pen; a fine-liner is the answer. Buy it for a note-taker. Skip it for someone who would never write in a Bible — and some people would never.
