A monk strap is the one dress shoe that gets noticed, and this collection had oxfords, derbies and loafers but nothing with a buckle. At forty-six dollars it is a way to find out whether he likes the style before spending three hundred on one that will outlive him. Construction is what you expect at the price — glued rather than welted, so resoling is not realistic and it is a two-or-three-year shoe. The leather is stiff for the first few wears. Buy it as an experiment, not as the good pair.
